What A Day!

Today was a great day. Very long but wonderful. The girls slept till 8:15 which is about 45 min longer than usual and made me very happy. Ever since they started crawling about a week ago their sleep is adjusting to be better than it usually is. They've been sleeping good but now all of a sudden they are seemingly using all of the pent up energy they have been storing just waiting to crawl and sleeping really good.

At 8:15 we woke up and celebrated my dad's birthday in bed with one of the twins favorite jams, woolly bully, and a few toys. Then we sent birthday messages to him via video (although I found out later in the day that he couldn't open them up at work).

After the birthday fun, we got dressed for the day, packed up, and headed to Temple for our monthly Collier cousin play date. All of us (5 kiddos and 4 moms) were able to go for the first time and it was so much fun. We all joked that it's hard to believe we are in a "mom club". It's really great though for the kids and us. I have to add, it can be a bit of a zoo sometime, but a very fun zoo that I wouldn't trade.

After the play date we drove to Waco for dinner with Brian's family. We had bar-b-q chicken, potato salad, beans, and rolls. It was so nice visiting and catching up with everyone. Whenever I am with family I am reminded that all of our lives are at such different places, but it's wonderful to know we can always come together as a family to share good times, laughter, and love. It is a refreshing break from everyday life.

We got home tonight at 11:00 to end a very full day. The girls are wonderful travelers, although with Brian and I they really have no choice. We are always on the road and love almost every second. ;)

I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to my wonderful dad.

Dad, here is a poem I found that states exactly how I feel about you.

Every year, your birthday reminds me
how grateful I am that you are my father.
With all that’s going on in the world today,
I’m thankful I get to watch you,
to look up to you, being an example of a good man.
What a privilege it is to observe your strength,
your competence, and your kindness.
I am so blessed to be under your wing,
your protection, your care,
learning important life lessons from you.
If all fathers were like you,
the world would be a very different
and much better place.
Happy Birthday, Dad,
I love you so very much, Amber.
